BEAUTY QUEEN: EMILY BLUNT

the queen of the met ball.

by ray siegel

The fashion world took its best stab at punk rock last night for the Met Ball. With these two polar opposite worlds colliding, we weren't surprised that this year's theme yielded some intriguing beauty looks: Some celebs looked awkward, some played it safe, and some threw caution to the wind, fully embracing the punk spirit. Nicole Richie's hair was stark white, January Jones' makeup rendered her almost unrecognizable, and Ginnifer Goodwin didn't hold back on the punk inspired-eyeliner.

But only one look can earn the crown--perhaps we're partial to hot pink, but Emily Blunt's ultra bright Nars eyes caught our attention. Her makeup artist--Jenn Streicher for Nars--went rogue herself, using lip pencil and blush as eye makeup. "It was Emily's idea to do pink!" said Jenn Streicher about the look she created for Emily Blunt. "Her dress was black so we decided to bring out the theme of the gala by playing up her hair and makeup. This was pretty daring--we wanted it to be punk yet glamorous."

Here are the exact products she used on Blunt:

SHADOW IT: Jardin des Plantes Satin Lip Pencil, $25 Streicher covered Blunt's lid with a highly pigmented Nars lip pencil to give her eyes a bright, graphic look.

SHADOW IT: Nars Blush in Desire, $29 Instead of pink eye shadow, Streicher used Nars' brightest pink blush over the already bright lip pencil for unmistakably pink eyes.

LINE IT: Nars Satin Lip Pencil, $25 Streicher used Nars' Satin Lip pencil on Blunt--it's moisturizing, but still gives you major color.
