beauty queen: martha hunt

rock’n’roll hair that doesn’t require an all-nighter.

We know, we know, the whole concept of spending time to make it look like you've rolled out of bed is a bit of a beauty farce; we're busy enough as it is, do we really need to take an extra 10 minutes making it look like we couldn't be bothered? But the thing is, unless you are Alison Mosshart and spend most of your nights rocking out and days sleeping in, there's no shortcut to rock star hair.

But the upside to styling it yourself is that you control just how polished it looks--meaning that you don't always have to be dive bar-bound. Take Martha Hunt: The model, just off walking behind Naomi Campbell at the Versace couture show, attended the party for Alber Elbaz x Lancome in Paris last night with some seriously edgy tresses. She may have had a team of stylists helping her, but we've got your three step process for rocking out:

AMP IT: Garnier Fructis Haircare Volume Extend Fortifying Shampoo - $6.99 and Garnier Fructis Haircare Volume Extend Fortifying Conditioner - $6.99

Especially thin or fine hair needs an extra boost--get a bit of volume going while you're still in the shower.

DRY IT: Bumble and bumble Thickening Full Form Mousse - $29

Comb mousse through wet hair, then flip over as you blow dry to get it amped even more.

PIECE IT: Tigi Bed Head Hard To Get Texturizing Paste - $18.99

Rub a small bit of paste between your palms (a little goes a long way) and give your head a once-over shake. Don't be afraid to make a mess--this will keep it all in place.
