Watch out, Instagram

Winter is coming and with it, temperatures that beg you to layer. You could kick it old-school and pile on the long johns, sweaters, scarves, and jackets. But then: How will you move like a normal human? Instead, look for inspiration from winter's perennial cool people: snowboarders. We're talking Burton snowboarders to be specific because Burton consistently raises the bar on cold weather fashion, combining athletic function with enviable form.

This season, Burton teamed up with Gwen Stefani's L.A.M.B. label for a collaboration that's playful without being over-the-top. The range of jackets, sweaters, pants, jumpsuits, and more will catch the attention of any street style photographer with a keen eye for bold personalities.

To prove it, we hit the streets of New York to highlight how versatile Burton's top-shelf winter collection can be. Just because you may live in a metropolitan area doesn't mean you can't introduce mountain gear into your winter wardrobe. Sooner or later, a nor'easter is going to sweep through, and you'll be thankful you made the investment, because while the rest of your friends struggle to navigate Mother Nature in jeans and non-blizzard-proof jackets, you'll be sitting pretty in the snow—literally. Don't hop on the winter struggle bus. Be an original and prepare accordingly.
