Cakes Da Killa did not come to play with you. By being an out, openly gay rapper, he inherently is here to challenge the fragile masculinity of the notoriously heteronormative hip-hop and rap scene. His debut album, Hedonism, chronicles what goes down in his life. It's unapologetic and infectious. "The inspiration," he says, "was dealing with a glass ceiling of life being an openly gay artist." He adds it's also about not feeling appreciated and self-acceptance. "Fuck the world," he says. Indeed, do what you love and fuck the rest. Cakes Da Killa is.

Listen to him rap in the video below and to Hedonism, out now.
