The Movie That Introduced Chris Evans To Jenny Slate Finally Has A Trailer

'Gifted' opens on April 12

There's a long history of actors falling in love with each other on the set of a movie. For Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, it was Days of Thunder. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie began their torrid love affair on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender found each other in The Light Between Oceans. Now, we finally get our first look at the movie that paired Chris Evans and Jenny Slate, two stars from opposite ends of the Hollywood spectrum, who wound up becoming one of the unlikeliest celebrity couples of the year.

It’s called Gifted, a schmaltzy indie about a precocious little girl (Mckenna Grace), who just so happens to be a math whiz. Evans stars as Frank Adler, her uncle and legal guardian, who's sworn to protect his niece from outside forces that want to exploit her talents for their own personal gain. Slate stars as a teacher and Frank’s requisite love interest, while Octavia Spencer rounds out his squad of supporters.

And while it may be worth circling Gifted to see if (500) Days Of Summer director Marc Webb can bounce back after his dual The Amazing Spider-Man debacles, the real reason it'll chart on most people's radars is for the chance to catch a glimpse at that elusive chemistry between Evans and Slate that we've never seen, but heard so much about

Gifted opens in theaters April 12. Watch the trailer above.
