CHVRCHES’ Lauren Mayberry Covers Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball”

The song that keeps on giving

CHVRCHES' Lauren Mayberry covered Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" this week. And, no, it wasn't for some BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge special.

Mayberry was the musical guest at Greg Barris' Heart of Darkness comedy show in Brooklyn, New York. She performed a series of covers including Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball," Ben Folds Five's "Brick," and Don Henley's "The Boys of Summer." Her take on Cyrus' was spot-on, with Mayberry's voice soaring into the rafters during the song's climax. Comedian Seth Herzog joined her on stage toward the end of the performance with his own version of a wrecking ball and a Cyrus-inspired outfit. (There was no nudity involved, but a Wonder Woman leotard may or may not have made a cameo.)

CHVRCHES recently wrapped their year-long tour for their sophomore album, Every Open Eye. Mayberry, for her part, seems to be relishing in the downtime between projects.
