zoom in on chanel’s amazing couture show from backstage…

Chanel's recent couture show was called "The New Vintage," an allusion to both the fast-paced fashion world and the fact that when you buy a Chanel piece, it will still be in your closet when you become a grandmere. The clothes riffed on silhouettes from the formidable Chanel archive, and mixed the French house's famous tweed with modern materials like plastic paillettes and laser-cut cloth.

The Swiss photographer Benoit Peverelli was backstage with Karl Lagerfeld's latest confections, including a few gowns we can easily see on The Oscars red carpet. Click through for some of our favorite moments from before and during Chanel's 2012 Couture show...
