by steff yotka

There's something about an easy DIY that makes us want to stand up, arms spread eagle and shout, "I'm king of the world!" The mixed feelings of accomplishment and self-reliance will do wonders for your mood.

Today's DIY will make you feel great and look great, too. All you need is a copy of Punch Out Paper Jewelry from Chronicle Books and about 15 minutes of free time. See? This really is the easiest DIY you can do.

Check out our step-by-step guide to making a cool necklace in our gallery. Writing this article took longer than making the necklace, we swear!

Step 1: Get your copy of Punch Out Paper Jewelry and a clear space to work.

Step 2: Read the instructions, duh!

Step 3: These are the sheets you'll need for this NYLON-approved DIY.

Step 4: Punch out the black triangle and lace both ends of the black ribbon through it from back to front.

Step 5: Put the black ribbon through the green gem and rainbow-colored shape back to front. Do it on each side of the triangle and leave some room between the punch out jewels.

Step 6: It should look like this! You can wear it like this or take your look one step further...

Step 7: Add the butterfly on top by weaving the ribbon through the holes at each end, and then point the triangular pieces up. Voila!
