Universal Pictures really wants you to see Fifty Shades Darker. The studio has yet to hire a director for the Fifty Shades of Grey follow-up, yet they've managed to cut a teaser and release it online. It's super short and only features footage of Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey putting on his sex mask, but its intention is to get you excited for a movie that you've probably already made up your mind about.
To us, this wreaks of insecurity from a franchise that lost its original director under nefarious circumstances and has been dealing with all sorts of sketchy press since the first movie was released last February. The trailer finishes with the vague promise, "Coming to theaters," reminding us that this thing doesn't even have an official release date yet, let alone a script.
Fifty Shades Darker is supposed to hit theaters in Febraury 2017.
