first look: sea

cop some laid-back surfer style without hitting the waves.

Sean Monahan and Monica Paolini, the team behind Sea, understand that the most important part of being cool is staying cool. For their latest collection, the NY-based designer duo found their manifest destiny, taking inspiration from ‘80s cult surf brand Jimmy’Z.

Resort 2015 features hand-bleached and stone-washed lightweight fabrics paired with crisp, airy dresses and midi skirts, as well as utility jumpsuits and embroidered maxis-- so you can look like you’ve just stepped out of the waves and onto a Malibu balcony.

Peep the slideshow for some styling tips you can take to Venice Beach or Canal Street.

Show a little skin with a peek-a-boo back flannel. Then pair with denim pinstripe pants for a cool carpenter look.

Want girly but not TOO girly? Throw a boxy tee over a pleated skirt.

Athletic-inspired shorts might make you think of Missy Elliot, but this printed incarnation is surprisingly luxe (and super wearable).

Find the yang to your LBD's yin this summer. Leave the pop of color to your espadrilles.

Can't decide if minis are really back? Get the best of both worlds with a cut-out midi frock.

A pinstripe denim jumpsuit. Just yes.

Missing winter? Find yourself a chic loose high-collar to fight whatever the opposite of Seasonal Affective Disorder is.

The best kind of maxi is an embroidered one.

Throw a long bleached chambray over a white mini whenever possible. And obviously, add some white high tops (this rule applies to everything).
