Florence + The Machine Cover Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me”

Oh darling, stand by me

At this point, we could have an entire "best of" album comprised of simply amazing covers by Florence + the Machine. Florence Welch slayed Jack Ü and Justin Bieber's "Where Are Ü Now," she gave us all the feels when performing The Beatles' "All You Need Is Love," and we got chills listening to her croon Fleetwood Mac's "Silver Springs." Point is, Welch is an artistic beast, whether she's playing her own material or paying homage to others through cover songs.

She is now back with another cover, this time, featured in the trailer for the Final Fantasy XV video game. Taking on Ben E. King's classic "Stand By Me," Welch's voice is accompanied by soaring layers of violin while all the Final Fantasy action goes on in the background. Of the song, Welch says, "'Stand By Me' is one of the greatest songs probably of all time and you can't really improve on it, you just have to make it your own." That she did. Here's to hoping we get a version of this cover untouched by the sound effects of near-death experiences and axe fighting. We get Final Fantasy is a thing for a lot of people, but is it so terrible we're more excited by Florence's goddess-like vocals?
