GET BOOTED

if you only buy one pair of shoes this fall…

by liza darwin

You could say it all started with Isabel Marant. Season after season, this Parisian designer never fails to debut one item that everyone covets- whether or not you were lucky enough to be born with that "so cool it hurts" vibe that's somehow inherent in all Parisian girls.

In recent years, Marant has made wedge sneakers high fashion, studded ankle boots chic, and cowboy-inspired kicks cool, and this fall she's at it again.

Whereas last time it was all about the Western-influenced Dicker bootie, her newest "It" shoe has a decidedly more urban feel. Literally following in the footsteps of its predecessor, the Dixie comes in suede cognac, has a mid- heel, and is- shocker!-decidedly lustworthy.

But just in case you don't want to empty your bank account for the originals, which cost about $615, we've rounded up a crop of close seconds to both the Dixie and Dicker styles to satisfy your shoe fix this season.

And as for that French je nais se quoi? Sorry, can't help you there.
