Watch Hari Nef Steal The Spotlight In Wolfgang Tillmans’ Visual Album

Keep calm & carry on

Ahead of the release of Wolfgang Tillmans' That’s Desire/Here We Are EP, the German photographer and musician dropped a self-directed visual album titled Fragile. Transgender model, actress, and activist Hari Nef is featured in the visual, as well as Karis Wilde, Matthew Salinas, and Bashir Daviid Naim. Tillmans' band members Juan Pablo Echeverri, Jay Pluck, Kyle Combs, Tom Roach, and Daniel Pearce also make appearances.

Now that we are living in a post-Brexit and pre-Trump world, Tillmans wants to inspire people to have "the desire to carry on and live our lives in a quest for personal happiness, whatever the circumstances are." Some of the tracks from these projects have political undertones and advocate for protesting and campaigning while others focus more on love and religion.

As for the visual album, it was recorded in Los Angeles and New York. All of the participants improvised while dancing to Tillmans' music.

"Whilst editing the footage with Michael Amstad in Berlin, it became clear, that what was planned to be cut into six individual videos, should not be separated, but should remain as a consecutive sequence of six different moods," said Tillmans. "I’m grateful for the trust and openness each dancer, actor, performer brought to this project.”

Fragile clocks in around 27 minutes, so you'll definitely want to make time to dive all the way in. The accompanying EP is due out on December 9. Watch the entire visual album in the video, above.
