I Love Lucy Private Icon

but really, who doesn’t?

by steff yotka

It is a universally known fact that every human loves Lucy. You can't not. From her cackling laugh to her ridiculously funny physical comedy, Lucille Ball was a TV gem. That's why today, on the 62nd anniversary of I Love Lucy's premiere, we're here to celebrate her truly timeless style.

During the six years I Love Lucy was on the air, Lucy developed a very signature style: polka dot dresses, Mary Jane shoes, plenty of gingham, and, of course, that white lab coat. And even though the show was in black and white, you could just tell that Lucy's red lipstick was the exact shade you wanted. Not to mention, she had a perfectly curled coif and jet black, perfectly flared eyelashes. There's no reason you can't cop a little bit of Lucy's style today--she was basically the inspiration for Miu Miu's polka dot paradise fall '13 collection.

All you're going to need to get your Lucy on, and maybe audition for one of Ricky's shows, is a choice selection cigarette pants, low-heeled shoes, and cat-eye glasses. We've got it all in our gallery, so kick back, eat some chocolates, and get shopping.
