beauty queen: jessica alba

copy her look from the nylon party!

by jamie wilson

Our March cover girl (and forever girl crush), Jessica Alba, was everything we've always dreamed of at our launch party for the March issue this week. In her classy matching maroon crop-top and pencil skirt ensemble, the actress and Honest Company mogul proved yet again why we love her so much. Alba kept her effortlessly tousled hair, but went for a lavender-hued smokey eye and nude lip. And while it's a great look to celebrate your magazine cover (no big deal), the best part is, it's also totally attainable.

Her makeup artist,

Monika Blunder

gave us all the details on how to copy Alba's makeup. According to Blunder, she was inspired to juxtapose Alba's classic outfit with a downtown edge. "Jessica's dress was very classy and sophisticated, so I wanted her makeup to be a bit more edgy since it was for the Nylon party," she explained. "I opted for a smokey eye with maroon and purple colors."

Blunder used

Armani Foundation 6.5

,

Charlotte Tilbury Fimstar Bronze & Glow,

as well as

Cle de Peau Concealer in Orcher

to complement Alba's signature glow. To master this flawless smokey eye, she called upon the forces of some of our fave brands: she prepped first using

Nars eye primer

. Next, Blunder mixed

MAC Eye Kohl in Prunella,

Bobbie Brown eyeshadow in Cognac

Tom Ford's Lavender Lust

and

Stila Smudge Pot in Pomegranate

to create the perfect purple gradient. The smokey eye was complete with some volume from

Lancôme Definicils

mascara. To contrast this statement eye, Blunder chose

Charlotte Tilbury lipstick in nude Kate.

There's absolutely zero doubt Alba totally owns this look-- but hey, this smokey eye with a twist works just as well for whatever you've got on the agenda this weekend.
