I guess we shouldn't be all that surprised that Kanye had more to say after announcing he would have voted for Donald Trump, if he had chosen to vote. Unfortunately for fans who attended his Saturday night show in Sacramento, California, Kanye had another 20 minutes worth of material in what might be his most epic rant of all time, covering topics ranging from making America great again to Mark Zuckerberg to just how much Beyoncé hurt his feelings. Then, after arriving late and only playing 3 songs, West abruptly ended the concert early by saying, "Press, get ready to have a field day because this show is over." Fans are somewhere between pissed and livid, many demanding refunds for the expensive show they paid to see but didn't get.
One of Kanye's broader topics of the night was lambasting the radio for playing the same artists over and over again, also saying, "Let me tell you something: MTV, fuck you. Once again, as always, I'm on my Trump shit tonight." He then segued into a lengthy thesis on Beyoncé and Jay Z, saying, amongst other things, "Beyoncé, I was hurt because I heard you said you wouldn’t perform unless you won video of the year over me and over 'Hotline Bling.' In my opinion... Now don’t go dissing Beyoncé, she’s great. Taylor Swift is great. We are all great people. But sometimes we be playing the politics too much and forget who we are just to win. Fuck winning, fuck looking cool, fuck looking cool, fuck being cool. Fuck all that. I’ve been sent here to give y’all my truth, even at the risk of my own life. At the risk of my own success. I’ll give y’all the truth. Jay Z, call me, you still ain’t called me… Jay Z, I know you got killers. Please don’t send them at my head. Just call me. Talk to me like a man."
Kanye then started to delve more into politics, lambasting Hillary Clinton, President Obama, Google, and Mark Zuckerberg, proclaiming that "it's a new world" and that he wants to help "make America great again." This launched a series of loud boos and audible shouts or "fuck Kanye." The sentiment continued after the abrupt end of the concert, when fans then aired their grievances on Twitter. One fan appealed to 'Ye by saying "@kanyewest you just stiffed 17,000 people who paid good money to see u in Sac. You owe them a huge apology and refund. Be a man and do it." Others have proclaimed that they're officially done with Kanye, saying, "@kanyewest wasted hundred of thousands of real peoples money. And he will chock it up to creative expression. I love his work but I'm out."
The only thing surer than death and taxes is that we've yet to hear everything that Mr. West has to say. He's been known to apologize (kind of) for his remarks and behavior, and in September sort of apologized for the debacle that was Yeezy Season 4. He once settled a fight with a hug. Will Kanye "evolve" past his support of a known racist and learn to treat his fans with more respect? Who even knows anymore.
