Kissing Is A Crime Unveils Its Debut Music Video

Watch “Crown Royal” right here, right now

If Matthew Molnar hasn't influenced your taste in music over the years, you've truly been missing out. The New Jersey-bred, Brooklyn-based artist was formerly a member of Friends, the Samantha Urbani-fronted band that made indie rock gems that you most likely heard playing in Urban Outfitters during the late 2000s. (You might also recognize him from Soft Black and Pagan Rituals.)

Now, he's back with a brand-new DIY band called Kissing Is a Crime, and they're dropping the music video for their debut single, "Crown Royal" right here. Comprised of Liz Hogg (guitar), Beatrice Rothbaum (bass), and Alex Feldman (drums), their emotive sound is irresistibly catchy. As summer slowly winds down to an end, this Charlotte Hornsby-directed video will make you want to cherish these last few days we have left to enjoy it.

Molnar describes the single as a "hooky sugar rush about adolescent infatuation." He adds,"'Crown Royal' is meant to be like a short story. I'm really obsessed with coming-of-age films, especially from the late '70s, and had that in mind as a backdrop for this song. It's a tale of star-crossed infatuation, taking place in the transitory state that is young adulthood. I think of it as taking place at a family picnic in the early summer when school is out of session and the world is a little bit more free."

Kissing is a Crime is set to release their debut Your Secrets Are Safe With Me EP on September 2 via Don Giovanni Records. Watch the theatrical visual for "Crown Royal," below.
