Watch Lena Dunham And America Ferrera Burn Donald Trump At The DNC

“He’s making America hate again”

Lena Dunham and America Ferrera took the stage together at the Democratic National Convention last night and wasted no time going straight at Donald Trump. They kicked things off by ridiculing his controversial comments on women and Mexican immigrants. "Hi, I’m Lena Dunham, and according to Donald Trump, my body is probably like, a 2,” Dunham began. “And I’m America Ferrera, and according to Donald Trump, I’m probably a rapist,” Ferrera added, referring to that time the Republican nominee for president said that Mexican immigrants were rapists.

But Ferrera is actually the daughter of Honduran immigrants, a fact Dunham pointed out as their bit went on. “But America, you’re not Mexican,” Dunham said. “And President Obama isn’t Kenyan, Lena, but that doesn’t stop Donald,” Ferrera snapped back with a smile. The whole thing had the feel of an awards presentation until the two actresses decided to get serious. Ferrera discussed her childhood as the daughter of immigrants and her experiences in the education system, while Dunham talked about her experience as a survivor of sexual assault. "His rhetoric about women takes us back to a time when we were meant to be beautiful and silent," Dunham said. “Meanwhile, 22 years ago, Hillary Clinton declared that women’s rights are human rights.”

Added Ferrera: “Donald is not making America great again; he’s making America hate again.”
