Leonardo DiCaprio Wants To Save The World In ‘Before The Flood’

Watch the first trailer

If you think Leonardo DiCaprio spends all of his time in between movies getting cozy with supermodels on sprawling yachts in the French Riviera, think again. The Oscar-winning actor has long been one of the world’s most vocal advocates of climate change awareness, which just so happens to be the focal point of his upcoming documentary, Before the Flood.

Directed by Fisher Stevens, the doc tracks Leo on his journey to the furthest corners of the earth, as he witnesses the terrifying effects of climate change firsthand. “We’ve known about this for centuries—for over half a decade,” he says in the film’s just-released first trailer. “Try to have a conversation with anyone about climate change, people just tune out. And the problem seems to be getting worse and worse and worse.”

The trailer also showcases the considerable pull Leo has when it comes to getting the attention of some of the world’s most powerful people. The U.N. peace ambassador sits down with Elon Musk, Barack Obama, and even Pope Francis. Climate change conspiracy theorist Donald Trump, however, is notably absent.

Watch Dicaprio put his celebrity to good use, when Before The Flood airs on National Geographic on October 31.
