lookbook: converse

the classic is still a classic—only with a twist.

Innovation is undoubtedly what drives fashion--but there's a reason certain classics are, well, classics. Be it Levi's jeans, Ray-Ban sunglasses, or a Gap tee, some things are so perfect that they don't need to evolve much at all. That goes for Converse. The shoes The Ramones wore nearly 40 years ago (and Kurt Cobain wore 20 years ago, and MIley Cyrus three years ago—) are the very same ones we pulled on this morning. Of course, that doesn't mean that they can't evolve a little bit.

Just take the spring '13 collection: The shape's the same, but the details are a little different. There's the washed-out cam print in the Well Worn series, the woven-mesh (yes, mesh) Chuckout, and even a Chuck Taylor featuring a rubber wedge platform to give you an extra boost.

And don't get us started with the leather-zipper detailing or sun-soaked neons. But deep down inside, they're still the Chucks you know and love. Which is cool, because we wouldn't want them to be anything else, anyway. Shop the spring collection here!
