BEST DRESSED: MET GALA

proving you can look both punk and pretty.

by nylon

The theme at last night's Met Ball was punk--but save for a few spikes and some bondage-esque straps, the looks on the red carpet were all about the pretty.

From Emma Watson's zig-zagging gown to Gwen Stefani's Maison Martin Margiela two-piece, skin seemed to be the most envelope-pushing component. Some people, like Florence Welch, found a way to take their personal style and just add in a bit of rock'n'roll edge. And then there were attendees like Anne Hathaway who shocked by completely changing up their look.

Here are our eight favorite Met Ball attendees--and if you're not happy with the picks? Well, punk is all about offending people, right?
