He made his name with "Stay," that 2013 smash he co-wrote for and sang with Rihanna, and now, Mikky Ekko is a man on the go.

The Louisiana alt-pop riser is getting ready to drop his debut album, Time, on January 20, and for the next eight days, he'll be touring the U.S. and Canada with those brainy British rockers in Alt-J.

Along the way, Ekko will be checking in with NYLON Guys and sending Instagrams and updates, and last night, he passed along his first photo (above), along with the following caption:

Mikky's Motor City gig came on the heels of "Mourning Doves," a heavy-hitting ballad he debuted earlier in the day via Vogue.
