Sunday Sizzle: Leaf Continues To Burn Up The Summer

She’s all about that mac

by Hafeezah Nazim

When summertime finally rolls around, nothing is more fun than the combo of good food, good music, and good company. So every weekend, we’re bringing you BBQ must-haves from the hands of our favorite artists so you can get a real taste of what their lives are actually like. Get your hands on the Sunday Sizzle while it’s hot.

Without a doubt, some of the greatest rappers in the game hail from New York. It seems that nearly e

very day each borough produces new talent to represent the iconic city, and for the past year, multi-hyphenate virtuoso Leaf has been making the case that she's a worthy contender.

Since the release of her debut EP

Magnet Bitch

, Leaf has been steadily creating a distinct brand for herself. She performed at Rolling Loud Festival alongside Future, starred in a Calvin Klein ad, wrapped up a tour with Alessia Cara, and will be releasing a song with Lil' Yachty later this summer. Her latest single, "Money" was heard during Apple's WWDC keynote presentation, and shortly after, she enlisted Pell to spit a verse on the remix.

Though she's known for her savage bars and heavy-hitting production, she keeps it relatively tame with her food preferences. Before she became a vegan, Leaf's favorite dish from the grill was a classic cheeseburger with BBQ sauce and ketchup. She'll also settle for mac and cheese if it's available. Staying true to her Brooklyn roots, she cites Biggie as one of her go-to BBQ artists. "My favorite BBQ jam would have to be anything Biggie or anything Earth, Wind & Fire," she said. "You have to put on those classic throwbacks."
