Sunday Sizzle: Lizzo Is Bringing The Star Of The Meal

She’s all about the beans

When summertime finally rolls around, nothing is more fun than the combo of good food, good music, and good company. So every weekend, we’re bringing you BBQ must-haves from the hands of our favorite artists so you can get a real taste of what their lives are actually like. Get your hands on the Sunday Sizzle while it’s hot.

If you've been listening to Lizzo since 2013, you know that she's an expert when it comes to good food. The Houston-based artist's hit "Batches & Cookies" was a strong introduction to this mega powerhouse.

In addition to collaborating with Sophia Eris, Manchita, and DJ Shannon Blowtorch to form GRRRL PRTY, she also dropped her latest solo project Big Grrrl Small World this year. Given her busy schedule this summer, we wanted to know what keeps Lizzo hungry for more. (This might be the first time we mean it literally.)

"Baked beans were always my favorite part of the BBQ," Lizzo told us. "My mom would make the ribs and the chicken, and I would love to smother it in the baked beans. I love sweet and savory, and the beans are the definition of that. They are the star of the meal, in my opinion, all of the protein."

Lizzo was even kind enough to share a special recipe for bomb baked beans. While you whip it up, she also recommends putting on "Tootsee Roll" by 69 Boyz. "Whenever 'Tootsee Roll' comes on, you just want to get down," she adds. "It’s almost kind of like the old-school version of hittin’ the dab; it’s timeless, it’s classic. You can play it when it’s hot outside, and you can just tootsee roll with your friends."

Take some notes and listen along, below.

1 tablespoon yellow mustard
