alternative ways to style your crop top

crop it up

by marcy huang

Even though styling your good old crop top with a high-waisted circle skirt is a sure hit, it can sometimes get boring. (Who wants to look that sweet and innocent all the time?) Embrace street style and toughen up your crop top using these three easy steps:

Step 1: Pick a crop with some bite

Opt for a top that plays with asymmetry, or one that features an unexpected neckline.

Step 2: Mix in some texture with a jacket

Aim for an item that provides a juxtaposition—contrast the soft and girly with something hard and tough, like denim or mesh.

Step 3: Finish it up with a statement accessory

Whether it's oversized, shiny, features bold graphics, or has all of the above, go for it.

And just like that, you're done. Browse through our gallery to see how we style our favorite crops for the street, and be sure to shop all the looks here at NYLONshop.
