Louis C.K. + Pamela Adlon Reteam In The ‘Better Things’ Trailer

Being a single parent in L.A. is hard

by daniel barna

This fall we're getting yet another comedy about middle-class white people trying to figure out life in Los Angeles. But what makes FX's Better Things stand out, is that it’s being told from the point of view of a middle-aged single mom, instead of a group of floppy-haired Echo Park hipsters. That, and Louis C.K.’s involvement, which instantly heaves any show to the top of our imaginary must-watch list.

Better Things, which just released its first trailer, is the brainchild of C.K. and Pamela Adlon, who'll star as Sam Fox, a working actress trying to raise three daughters who sometimes ask her to get them pot. This marks the third time C.K. and Adlon have teamed up to show us just how chaotic life as a working parent can be. But, with Louie on indefinite hiatus, Better Things comes at just the right time to fill that void.

No word yet on whether or not C.K.—who directed all 10 episodes—will make an appearance on the show, but Adlon has been a mainstay in L.A.'s comedy scene for many years, so expect cameos galore when Better Things premieres September 8 on FX. Watch the first trailer above.
