RECORD SETTER

how to stock up on vinyl this black friday.

by liza darwin

We used to think that Record Store Day was a once-a-year type of thing, happening in independent record stores across the country in April. But turns out you can score major new music sooner than you think.

On Black Friday (otherwise known as the day after Thanksgiving), tons of labels will shell out exclusive and limited edition versions of albums by everyone from Red Hot Chilli Peppers to Tom Petty to The Black Keys. They'll be in 700-plus different stores all over, but only until they sell out...which won't take long.

Bottom line: there's never been a better excuse to ditch the 4 a.m. Wal-Mart rush and hit your local music stop instead.
