Watch The Trailer For Cameron Crowe & Showtime’s New Show ‘Roadies’

It seems promising…

Almost Famous is arguably one of the most influential films of the new millennium, and it seems nearly impossible to recreate its success. Still, its writer and director Cameron Crowe is certainly trying with his first television project, Roadies. And from what we've seen, he may just succeed.

The Showtime series, which premieres June 26, doesn't follow groupies or teenage journalists on their quest to influence and be a part of rock history. Hell, it doesn't even revolve around the musicians themselves. Instead, it explores a group of roadies who travel with a group called the Staton-House Band. It's a relatively unexplored perspective on the touring scene, one that lends itself to the rare combination of comedy, drama, passion, and sentimentality that actually works.

Starring Luke Wilson, Carla Gugino, Keisha Castle-Hughes, Rafe Spall, Imogen Poots, Rafe Spall, Machine Gun Kelly, Ron White, and Peter Cambor, Roadies has the perfect mix of seasoned cast members and fresh faces. Whether it will reach the cult status that Almost Famous did is still to be decided, but with J.J. Abrams and Winnie Holzman as executive producers, the show is pretty much slated to be a hit, at the very least.
