party of five

from a secret brooklyn mia show to a gala at the guggenheim, the best bashes of the week!

by liza darwin

It always takes a little strategizing in order to hit all the best events in New York City, but this week's Party of Five was a divide-and-conquer situation like none other. Mostly because these parties spanned all over the map, from a top-secret M.I.A. performance deep in Brooklyn all the way to the Upper East Side at the Guggenheim.

And that's not even touching upon the West Coast, where Selena Gomez and Lily Collins gave us major makeup envy at the launch of Flaunt Magazine's "En Garde" issue. We're used to seeing Gomez in sweet dresses and natural-looking makeup, but this time the actress went a glam (you might even say goth-y) route in a vampy cut-out dress. The Cushnie et Ochs number itself might be restricted to weekends only, but her messy side braid and dark lip? That's something that we're going to be trying ASAP. See what else went down this week in the gallery below!

We can't really think of a better way to celebrate MIA's new album Matangi than with a sweaty dance party in a Bushwick warehouse. Best Tuesday ever, thanks to Spin and Opening Ceremony.

Meanwhile, Zosia Mamet, Natalie Portman and more got fancy at the Guggenheim International Gala uptown. Xoxo, Gossip Girl...

BJ Novak and Colin Farrell hung out--and looked equally dapper-- at the Saving Mr. Banks afterparty.

Few people can work a pantsuit quite like a Palama Faith pantsuit. Need proof? Just peep the Brit pop star's look at Tinie Tempah's launch party.

Elle Fanning proved her girl-crush status yet again in a Carven dress at the Screenwriting Awards in L.A. We'll take the entire outfit, please!

The new Club Monaco outpost on 5th Ave. has a bookstore, a coffee shop, two floors, and dressing rooms the size of our entire apartment. We'll just go ahead and move in...Greta Gerwig, wanna join?
