There’s new Sky Ferreira material on the way, and “Where the Light Gets In” is a fabulous re-introduction. It’s not Ferreira’s song, though. Primal Scream teamed up with the “Everything is Embarrassing” singer for this song off the Scottish group’s upcoming album, Chaosmosis (out March 18).
Ferreira and Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillespie speak of manipulation and desire here. It’s a shimmery single—one you can easily imagine playing during some scene of reckless abandon in a John Hughes film. Come to think of it, though, there'd be more grit.
In a 2014 interview with NME, Ferreira said, “The reason I like working with [Primal Scream] is because there’s absolutely no pressure. It’s nice to walk in somewhere and they’re not like, ‘Okay, your label is harassing me about this and that.' I set it up without anyone else involved, so we just sit and write in a room and there's no pressure." Expect to hear more Ferreira and Primal Scream songs on Ferreira’s next album Masochism. In the meantime, watch the video for “Where the Light Gets In” below.
