The First ‘Suicide Squad’ Trailer Is Revealed At Comic Con

prepare to freak out.

UPDATE (July 13, 2015 4:30 p.m.): The Suicide Squad trailer has officially been released. We have swapped out the viewing link.

ORIGINAL POST (July 12, 2015 11:35 a.m.): At yesterday’s Comic-Con in San Diego, Margot Robbie and Will Smith (minus Jared Leto) not only surprised DC Comics fans in attendance with their appearance, but also treated the audience to the first Suicide Squad trailer. The response in Comic-Con’s Hall H was complete pandemonium—and rightfully so.

The footage establishes the story of Suicide Squad and opens with Amanda Waller, played by Viola Davis, introducing the idea of a team of antiheroes, comprised of the worst of the worst and tasked with suicide missions by a government agency in exchange for some redemption.

While images of the Squad’s costumes have previously hit the internet, the trailer gives a more in-depth look and insight to the villains’ characters: Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) is suspended like an acrobat in a prison cell, Deadshot (Will Smith) practicing on a punching bag, and Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) lurking the shadows.

The montage of the Squad on various missions leads up to the reveal of Jared Leto’s Joker. Throughout the entire trailer a creepy song, “I Started A Joke”, first made famous by the Bee Gees, is played over the scenes of violence. Leto’s staccato, terrifying laugh is first heard, with a final shot of Leto holding electroshock cables and grinning at the camera.

Luckily for fanboys and fangirls around the world, an audience member has uploaded the footage online. Quick, watch the leaked trailer for the film below, which is slated to hit theaters August, 2016.
