The New ‘Suicide Squad’ Trailer Will Leave Your Jaw On The Floor

‘we’re bad guys. it’s what we do.’

DC Comics, we see you. Up until now, Marvel has had a virtual monopoly on superhero movies, thanks to franchises like Iron Man, Captain America, Guardians of The Galaxy, and of course, The Avengers, leaving DC desperately trying to play catch-up. But if the outrageous new Suicide Squad trailer is any indication (along with the upcoming release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), that's about to change.

Directed by David Ayer, the film follows the world's most notorious supervillains after they've assembled to complete an ultra-dangerous black-ops mission, with the fate of the world hanging in the balance. If they succeed, they're set free from what looks like Arkham Asylum, Gotham City's crash pad for the criminally insane. If they fail, well, let's just say there won't be a sequel. Among the motley crew of baddies are Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Deadshot (Will Smith), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), Katana (Karen Fukuhara), and Rick Flagg (Joel Kinnaman). Cara Delevingne's Enchantress is also seen briefly, but never with the squad, which leads us to believe that she might in fact be the film's big baddie.

Then there's Jared Leto's Joker, whose presence is felt all throughout the trailer's second half. And while initial photos had him looking like an emo band frontman—maybe the "damaged" tattoo plastered across his forehead has something to do with it—it's starting to look more and more like Leto may have actually pulled it off. His performance is just one of the many things to love about this trailer, which is skillfully choreographed to Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody," and has us giddy for August 5, when Suicide Squad storms into theaters. Watch the squad go up, above.
