SXSW: Day 3

The South by South West days do not get shorter as the festival goes on--for some reason they just get longer as each day you try and top the previous day's experiences. And for us, the third day of SXSW went a little like this...

The NYLON Loft at Malverde kicked off early with a performance from ASTR. This is a duo everyone has been talking about, and after seeing them light up the party we can see why. The NYLON parties always get packed and stay packed, so after watching ASTR we made our way back to do film some NYLON TV interviews (coming soon!!)

The king of "feels," Ryan Hemsworth, was in the house. It's always good to hang with him and of course he always kills 'em softly. The vibe at Malverde was like a super chilled house party, and everyone that came through to play was super happy to play and hang out. After seeing Amtrac, Bad things and Tinashe we decided to run out and see our friends at

BMF and Dickies

.

Hitting the Dickies Roadhouse party it suddenly struck…the hunger is real, and lucky for us the folks at

Bangers Sausage House and Beer Garden

were on hand. These guys served up the most incredible tempura-battered vegan eggplant sausage with cucumber, onion, and cherry tomato salad. This might be the most amazing thing we will eat this trip, seriously amazing. And right as we finished eating who jumped on stage but ASTR, so we watched them kill it for the second time of the day.

After hanging with the Dickies party for a while, we swing back by the Haggar house to see

Jetta

, also for the second time of the day and also so very very good! The hang at Clive bar has been super solid all week, but we had to move on to see our homies from The 1975.

The setting for the

Guitar Center

party was the rooftop of a huge parking garage and as we walked up to entrance a familiar voice echoed around all of 6th Street. It just so happens in aiming to see The 1975 we showed up early to find

Damon Albarn

! This might be the craziest accident to ever happen, stumbling upon a performance of our all time favorites before seeing an awesome new band, very serendipitous. After an incredible set from Mr. Albarn The 1975 took the stage and quite frankly it was one of the best sets we've ever seen from them--they really are one of the best live bands you can see.

Heading back down I-35 South nodding off in the cab is pretty standard for the end of day 3 at SXSW. There's no other place in the world to see and hear this much music in such a short amount of time. There's one day left of the NYLON Loft, so hope to see you there!
