The Curator: Yasmeen Gharnit, Digital Editorial Assistant
Lawdy, lawdy, lawdy. I'm still trying to regain my thoughts because, as I said above, the greatest musical collaboration e v e r just happened and we need to talk about it. Or do we? Will it destroy the song's sacredness?! I can't tell which would be better—maybe we need to talk about this matter as well...Okay, trying to get back on track here...On "A Kiss Goodbye," Emilie Haynie does his production thing, Dev Hynes lays it down on guitar, Charlotte Gainsbourg serves some major etherial vocals, and Sampha takes on bone-chillingly sincere lead vocals. This is pure magic, people. And you need to listen to it over and over again because, as someone who has been doing so since yesterday afternoon, I can tell you it's just good for the soul.
The Look: NYLON's Metal Rebel Beauty Spread
This will forever be one of my many favorite beauty spreads from NYLON, shot by Charlotte Wales for our Dec/Jan 2013 issue. Bold metallic looks, nose rings, and braids forever!
Apply this long-lasting shadow to a wet angled brush and sweep across your lashlines for an amazing discoball effect.
The Inspiration: Bergdorf Goodman's Fall Catalogue
I'm really digging monochromatic looks at the moment and these select shots from Bergdorf Goodman's fall catalogue, modeled by the major Tao Okamoto, are providing some much needed inspiration. The looks are modern and powerful and the shots are supremely creepy, depicting a post-apocalyptic Dubai of sorts.
One of my favorite girl groups of the moment, Say Lou Lou, has released what is possibly one of the sweetest covers I've heard in a while. Maybe it's the twin thing, but they really have an uncanny way of creating enticing, mystical jams.
