Most horror movies nowadays feel like generic copycats, so shout out to first-time director Robert Eggers for trying something different with The Witch. Set in New England circa the 1600s, the Sundance hit follows a Puritan family trying to get closer to God, but instead gets tangled up with some very evil, very mysterious force. Based on the movie's title, we can probably guess what that force is (hint: It wears a pointy hat and rides a broom), but the movie's new trailer leaves a lot to the imagination. All we know is that whatever is terrorizing this family comes from the forest (duh), has a weird thing for goats, and is scary AF.
The Witch will cast its very scary spell on you sometime next year (October might be a good bet).
