The xx Take Over Marfa In Their “On Hold” Music Video

Where’s the Prada?

Welcome to Marfa, Texas, home of the highly-Instagrammable Prada Marfa installation. You won't be catching a glimpse of that in The xx's new music video, though. Rather, the British trio brings you into the everyday lives of Marfa's youth to help their new song, "On Hold."

Esteemed photographer, Alasdair McLellan, plays director here, adding a high-gloss—albeit gritty—fashion touch to the video. The xx's Romy Madley Croft and Oliver Sim carry out a phone conversation while scenes of loves lost and loves found are interspliced with one of the more believable house parties in music video history. All that angst is meaningless when people put aside their frustrations for one another and come together to dance with Jamie xx on the turntables. Plus, this song goes off.

"On Hold" is lifted from The xx's forthcoming album, I See You. Partly recorded in Marfa, the new LP drops January 13. Until then, we'll be, uh, oh hold.
