premiere: toy soldiers “this old town”

A little bit country…A little bit Rock ‘n Roll…

by Josh Madden

Here at NYLON HQ we consider ourselves to be "a little bit country, a little bit rock 'n roll", so when Toy Soldiers sent over their "This Old Town" video, we were into it. The Philly-based bunch have a serious Sun Records vibe going on from their fuzzed-out vocals to their hollow-bodied Gibsons. These dudes are seriously going to make the Gene Vincent and Brian Setzer crowd stoked. They really do touch bases in every genre, from roots to rock to blues to country and rockabilly.

Their new record The Maybe Boys, was produced by famed Dr. Dog collaborator Bill Moriarty and the video below for "This Old Town" was filmed at Dr. Dog's old practice space by Out of Town Films. The album was released last month and the fellas are touring in support of it through the end of the year. Check below for show dates, follow the band on Twitter HERE and on Facebook HERE.
