Imagine you’ve been living underground in an apocalyptic cult run by a man named Reverend Richard Wayne Gary Wayne for 15 years. And then, on what you mistakenly believe to be Christmas Day, a SWAT team comes and rescues you (and three other so-called “Indiana Mole Women”). Congratulations, you’ve become instantly famous for your misfortune, complete with local news segments and Today Show appearances! Well, that’s Kimmy Schmidt’s (Ellie Kemper) story, but, as the Netflix original show’s title proclaims, it’s not going to break her. To say the show, created by Tina Fey and 30 Rock showrunner Robert Carlock, is based on a far-fetched idea would be an understatement, but Kemper and the rest of the cast (which includes Jane Krakowski and Tituss Burgess) manage to make it not only enjoyable, but also relatable. File under: show you’ll most likely bingewatch on a Sunday night.
