Urban Decay Teams Up With HBO For Exclusive Makeup Looks

achieve the '70s beauty looks from the new hbo series 'vinyl'

Urban Decay has teamed up with Vinyl—the new HBO original series from Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger—and makeup artist Nicki Ledermann to create the official makeup looks on the show.

Premiering on February 14, the new series is based on the sex- and drug-addled music business in 1970s New York through the eyes of record label president Richie Finestra. The first season, which takes place in 1973 at the dawn of punk, disco, and hip-hop, is known for its iconic and diverse fashion and beauty. Ledermann created three beauty looks that best fit this era: iconic glam, natural chic, and pre-punk expression.

Drawing authentic inspiration for these looks was no easy feat, as it required tons of research. She told the brand she got her inspiration from '70s rock 'n' roll books, movies, and even old issues of Playboy. She later said the team “literally gathered hundreds of pictures, and so did the hair and wardrobe departments. Thanks to technology we were able to share all of our research and we came up with an incredible library of research to make up inspiration boards.”
