Unwrapped: The Perfect Gift Guide For Vegans

Beyond (but including) broccoli

'Tis officially the season for gift-giving. For us, it’s 31 days of gift giving; for a month, we’ll be providing gift ideas for everyone on your list—from your hard-to-please parents to your ’90s-loving BFF and even your spoiled pet. Filled with creative picks that got our pulses racing, our Unwrapped holiday gift guides will make Christmas shopping a breeze this holiday season.

Let's get this straight: Unless you were planning on giving everyone a membership to the bacon of the month club or you're still, like, inexplicably into buying fur coats for people, you probably don't need all that much help buying a vegan gift. Most gifts don't involve animal products after all! And yet, if you have a vegan in your life or even just someone who is incredibly conscientious about the environment and their carbon footprint, then the fact is that you are already dealing with a gift recipient who is an inherently selective person, someone who is deliberate in their life choices, someone who knows what they want. In other words, the pressure's on!

But fear not, vegan gift-giver. There's no need to be intimidated by this endeavor, especially not with our handy vegan gift guide at your fingertips. The fact is, there are tons of great vegan products out there right now—particularly in the realms of fashion, beauty, and wellness. Click through our slideshow below to find out how to gift responsibly and elegantly this holiday season.

Mullein & Sparrow Detox Trio, $59, available at Mullein & Sparrow.

This ultra-relaxing gift set is the perfect way for anyone—vegan or otherwise—to wash this year right off. It includes potent detox bath salts, an invigorating coffee and mint exfoliating scrub, and a sumptuous lemongrass mint body oil. It's guaranteed to leave the user feeling refreshed and ready to take on 2017.

Frank Coconut Coffee Scrub, $18.95, available at Frank Body.

Using only all-natural (and easily pronounceable!) ingredients, Frank Body's products—from creamy face washes to lip balms—are good enough to eat. Gift a loved one this body scrub, which is great for the coconut- and coffee-lover in your life. It's super invigorating and will leave skin silky smooth. Plus, it's nut free for any sensitive-skinned vegans in your life. What's not to love?

Soul Sunday Child's Pose Meditation Mist, $24, available at Soul Sunday.

This calming mist is infused with oils like grapefruit, jasmine, and, clary sage. Just a few spritzes will leave you feeling centered and calm, just like when you adopt a yogic child's pose. And while it's meant to be used during your yoga practice, we also like to spritz a little on our sheets before bed.

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Duos, $24, available at Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics.

We love this makeup company, which is 100 percent vegan and cruelty-free. Beyond its high ethical standards, OCC just makes some really great products. Chief among them are their awesome highly pigmented lip tars and lip pencils, which you can gift as a set to the vegan in your life who also loves a rocking gold-flecked turquoise pout.

Alison Lou x STAUD, Baby Shroom Brooch, $110, available at Staud.

Let your giftee show some vegan pride with this adorable enamel 'shroom pin. Though we're partial to the red-topped "baby shroom," these pins also come in "mama" and "papa" sizes, and you can even gift the whole shroom family if you so desire.

Growing Beautiful Food by Matthew Benson, $22, available at The Alchemist's Kitchen.

Benson, who owns and operates a CSA, has written a narratively compelling book about how it's possible to have your very own garden-to-table operation by growing your own crops (whether as a farmer or a windowsill gardener). This book is truly inspiring and, at the very least, serves as a great example of how possible—and important—it is to rebel against our current system of industrial farming.

Plant Apothecary Travel-Sized Bodywashes, Set of 5, $30, available at Plant Apothecary.

There fully organic body washes come in scents with cheeky names like Wake Up, Calm Down, Get Happy, Get It On, and Be Well; they all work to get you in the mood for, well, whatever it is you want to be in the mood for! (The musky sandalwood scent of Get It On is an undeniable aphrodesiac. We love it.)

Monk Oil City Skin Potion, $48, available at The Alchemist's Kitchen.

Filled with things like organic apricot kernel and avocado oils to soften and enrich skin, cedar and lavender oils to calm and focus, and rose quartz crystals to, it's said, "harmonize the potion with unconditional love," the Monk Oil City Skin Potion (made in New York City during the Full or New Moons, or other auspicious days), is good for the witchy vegan in your life who also likes to smell fantastic and have really smooth skin.

Focused Space The Pioneer Rucksack Backpack, $90, available at Focused Space.

A good backpack is hard to find; it's even harder to find when you're looking for it to be made with vegan materials. But Focused Space offers lots of awesome backpack choices, and all are animal-free. We're particularly partial to this rucksack version, which holds a truly decent amount of gear and can fit a 15-inch laptop with ease.

The Vegetarian by Han Kang, $21, available at IndieBound.

This incredible, engrossing novel tracks the journey of Yeong-Hye, a woman who has terrible nightmares which lead her to renounce meat. What follows is a compelling and disturbing tale of morality and oppression, violence and freedom. It's not one any reader will soon forget.

Gloss Moderne Vegan Leather Boxed Collection, $180, available at Sephora.

This five-piece hair care set includes shampoo, conditioner, serum, and two masques, all designed to give hair a high-shine, irresistible softness, and tons of hydration. Plus, the box it comes in is easily repurposable for all your giftee's storage needs.

LaRitzy MVP of the Month, $6.99, available at LaRitzy.

This cruelty-free and vegan (they even use synthetic beeswax!) makeup company has a great subscription service, wherein they send one of their products to subscribers every month. That's, like, everyone's favorite kind of mail. Especially when it includes LaRitzy's gorgeous highly pigmented eyeshadows. We love those.

Palermo Body Aromatherapy Oil Set, $84, available at Palermo Body.

These oils do everything from bringing tranquility to easing exhaustion and spiking self-confidence. We love each of them (and pretty much everything from this tiny Brooklyn, New York-based company) and think that giving the gift of a peaceful mind and ultra-good scents is just about the best gift you can give.

Small Drawing Papaya Pattern Leggings, $35.10, available at Society 6.

Be vegan and proud by wearing your love for fruit on your sleeve. Or, you know, your leggings. These stretchy pants are as comfy as they are cute, and are sure to be loved by anyone who likes their clothes to make a bright, bold statement.

The Moon Juice Cookbook by Amanda Chantal Bacon, $30, available at Moon Juice Shop.

We loved this book because it's full of plenty of actually easy to make recipes as well as some of the most beautiful, trippy photos we've ever seen. Seriously, though, everyone should have a little more Hot Sex Milk in their lives.

Vegan Cuts Vegan Coffee Box, $25.95, available at Vegan Cuts.

For the coffee-loving vegan in your life, this box is chock-full of things like coffee beans (obvi), coffee "mylk," caffeinated peanut butter, delicious coffee-based snacks, a mug that says #WhatVegansDrink, and so much more. The company has tons of other vegan-oriented boxes to check out as well, both food- and beauty-oriented.

TheLemonPeel, Vegan Poster, $20, available at Etsy.

Okay, okay, this might seem a little on-the-nose, but also? It's just a really cool graphic print of glorious green broccoli. What vegan wouldn't love that?
