Long on foreboding but short on details, the trailer for Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig’s upcoming Lifetime movie, A Deadly Adoption, hit the internet today. Again, though we’ve known about the project for months, we can still scarcely believe it exists (life has rarely been this good to us).
Just to catch you up, what we’re looking at is a straight-faced sendup of Lifetime’s many ridiculously melodramatic Lifetime movies (remember Mother, May I Sleep With Danger?) that have become guilty-pleasure standbys for red-wine-drinking viewers all across America. In it, Farrell and Wiig play a childless couple who become close—perhaps too close—with the mysterious young pregnant woman has promised to give them her baby. But what they don’t know about her may be their undoing. Sounds about right.
Just a heads up, A Deadly Adoption was written by Rachel Lee Goldenberg who also helped create the thoroughly unhinged Spoils of Babylon series—also starring Farrell and Wiig—for IFC. This is all to say, we’ve already bought our red wine.
A Deadly Adoption premieres on Lifetime (no, really, it does), June 20 at 8pm EST.
