Four months ago when Zayn Malik was on the cover of The FADER, a snippet of the song "BeFoUr" could be heard playing in the background of the behind-the-scenes video. Today, the entire Malay-produced track is finally ready for our full consumption and we couldn't be more stoked about it.
Considering the way the word "before" is formatted for this track, many people assumed that Malik was hinting at his former One Direction mates following his departure from the band. (After all, there are four of them left standing.) In the chorus of the single, he sings "So say what you wanna say, what you want/ Shame is you won't say that to my face." Sounds like somebody's feelings were hurt... He rarely ever lashes out in public—though we've seen the damage he can do on Twitter—but this song is more of an amicable parting tune.
Mind Of Mine officially drops on Friday, March 25. Malik is scheduled to make a televised appearance on The Tonight Show on March 24, and on the album's release day, he will perform at the iHeartRadio Theatre in New York City. Stop whatever it is that you're doing and stream "BeFoUr" right now.
