we designed a sweet 16 collection

super rad polishes, clothing, and sunnies

by bianca iarrobino

Sixteen years ago, when NYLON was a mere editorial newborn, we were consumed by simple pleasures. Our vintage roots gave us a blast from the past and helped us channel the original cool kid spirit. Now, we're harnessing that energy with an exclusive capsule collection with some of our favorite brands—Motel Rocks, Poprageous, Floss Gloss, Crap Eyewear, and Memebox. To create these items, we looked back to '99 and pondered how we could capture the essence of our favorite Furby, our trusted Walkman, and, of course, the Spice Girls.

The collection features a mashup of trends that represent the NYLON girl. There are two-piece print wonders via Motel Rocks and Poprageous, a multicolor pigment palette co-created with K-beauty brand, Memebox, a Floss Gloss glitter polish in a hot pink hue called "Second Base", and a jelly sandal-inspired pair of sunnies from Crap Eyewear. Browse the gallery to view each piece and come celebrate with us—we’ll be partying in style. Here’s to another 16!

NYLON's Sweet 16 Capsule is available on NYLONshop.

We joined forces with Motel Rocks to design a matching set that is keeping the "twosie" trend alive. This crop top and skirt combo is emblazoned with a beautifully crafted abstract print that spells out "NYLON" and "Motel". What better way to celebrate a collaboration than rocking an entire look adorned the designer names themselves?NYLON x Motel Rocks, abstract cut-out skirt, $50. abstract crop top, $49. available at NYLONshop.

The final product of our hard work with Korean beauty brand Memebox has come to fruition. Our multipurpose Sweet 16 makeup palette encompasses eight different shades inspired by a few of our most babely cover stars. The far left color, The Moment (a reference to the birth of NYLON), is a shimmery baby pink that has killer highlighting powers while the far right color, Sweet 16, is a matte neon pink that packs a serious punch. The lineup continues with a matte white ("Lilo"), a glittering olive ("Mary-Kate"), a deep red ("Mischa"), a sparkling copper ("Lana"), an eye-capturing hazel ("Paris"), and a bluish-brown ("Nicole").

In classic NYLON girl style, our collaboration with Poprageous highlights a skintight two piece with an all-over print. Rock the '90s inspired getup, which is printed to replicate our super-cool office entrance sign, during any festival or summertime occasion.

Our collaboration with nail polish empire Floss Gloss features nothing other than a glitter explosion in a hue we dubbed "Second Base." The holographic raspberry polish is for all you good girls who enjoyed the thrill of a naughty teenage moment. This polish will take you back to the days of glitter jelly pens, butterfly clips, and tattoo chokers. We're reliving the '90s glory with Second Base and all of its sparkle!

Our collab sunnies with LA-based Crap Eyewear are inspired by our favorite '90s staple, the jelly sandal. Crap Eyewear took their classic "TV Eye" shades and gave them the NYLON treatment, with a hidden "N" in the lens and on the inner frame. The baby pink semi-transparent lenses are perfect to rock poolside or at your favorite music festival!
