Throwback Thursday: When Mary-Kate Olsen Was Our Boho Cover Girl

go behind-the-scenes of our ’08 shoot.

It's fair to say that the mid to late aughts were when the bohemian trend truly thrived. And in '08, no one mastered the look more than Mary-Kate Olsen. Given her love of layers, collection of fringed accessories, and easy-going vibe, it was a no-brainer to have her as our January It girl.

The former actress has certainly always been busy, but in 2007, she sat down with us to talk about her foray into the high fashion world, her roles in Weeds and The Wackness, and how she defines her personal style: "I think my style inspiration comes from old movies and playful layouts. Kind of like dress up." Draped in a glamorous stole and decked out in the most effortless cool girl clothes, Mary-Kate jams out on-set in our behind-the-scenes look at her cover shoot.

Since then, MK has gone on to get engaged, write a book, and work with her sister on countless other fashion ventures with their brands The Row, Olsenboye, Elizabeth and James, and StyleMint. In honor of #ThrowbackThursday, take a trip down memory lane and watch our NYLON TV episode of the boho babe in action. Don't be surprised if you find yourself stealing some of these looks to take your festival outfits to the next level.
