Watch Courtney Love’s Muse + Bassist Jennie Vee Cover “Lips Like Sugar”

yes. just yes.

There's something about Jennie Vee. Just ask, you know, Courtney Love. (And we did just that, with Love offering a straight-to-the-point response via text: "Jennie's the real deal. She was a rock star at our first show together [Thursday].") Last week, Jennie (awesomely) lost her mind on the bass complete with many a bleached-hair-whip while crooning out background vocals for the queen of scream herself on the first date of this summer's most wanted ticket, the Love and Lana Del Rey 'Endless Summer' tour, an experience which Jennie says was surreal.

"After the show, we walked off the stage to a picture perfect moment—Lana waiting right there to congratulate us on a job well done." Also surreal = Jennie's formative years spent learning to play bass by jamming to Hole's iconic Live Through This album. But prepare for the buzzed-about musician to hit center stage on her own very soon with Jennie's forthcoming EP, Spying, which we can confirm is all kinds of cruising-the-Pacific-Coast-Highway, top-down-friendly, dreamy '80s-tinged punk-y pop perfection.

Need proof? We're premiering Jennie's music video for her Echo & the Bunnymen "Lips Like Sugar" cover. Take note of Jennie and her girl band rocking gorgeous gowns (in addition to the gorgeous haunting vocals and the acid-y swirling flowers) from Love's Never The Bride collection. "My last EP was called 'Die Alone,' and I felt like it was time to switch gears a bit," Jennie says of the sound and video vibes. "I just wanted this offering to be like candy." Directed by Katrin Albert, it's a sweet tooth mission accomplished. Without further ado, go on and eat up this summer-y sweetness. You're very welcome.
