It’s been nearly three years since Wes Anderson’s last film, the Oscar-winning saga The Grand Budapest Hotel, and it may be some time before we get to see his next effort. Although it is in production, the Bryan Cranston-, Bill Murray-, and Edward Norton-starring project still doesn’t have a title, which means it’s still a ways off. Luckily for those of us who need our Anderson fix, and who don’t feel like watching Moonrise Kingdom for the 100th time, H&M has teamed with the oddball auteur for an inspired short film just in time for the holidays.
Titled Come Together, the four-minute clip stars Anderson disciple, Adrien Brody, as a train conductor whose vessel, the aptly named “H&M Lines Winter Express,” won’t make it to its destination in time for the holidays. Unfortunately, it’s Brody who must break the news to his passengers.
“Good morning passengers of coach 14, this is conductor Ralph speaking,” he says over the speakers. “I regret to inform you that due to challenging weather conditions overnight in combination with mechanical difficulties on our scheduled route, we’ve been redirected to alternate tracks and will, therefore, be delayed an additional 11 and a half hours.”
It’s not all bad news. “My assistant porter Fritz and I will be serving a small complimentary Christmas brunch including chocolate-flavored hot beverage with whipped topping in the cafeteria section in the rear of the coach starting in 20 minutes,” Brody adds. “Please do join us, thank you.” And what a brunch it is. Missing Christmas has never looked so fun.
