Ariana Greenblatt Gets Ready For the 'Barbie' World Premiere

Go behind-the-scenes with the film’s brightest young star.

We did it. In just over a week, the wait for Greta Gerwig’s Barbie will finally be over as this year’s most anticipated movie hits theaters July 21st. Only adding to the excitement of the Margot Robbie-starring film has been the movie’s press tour, which officially took off (in pink, naturally) on Sunday night with the world premiere in Los Angeles.

Walking the carpet alongside stars Robbie and Ryan Gosling, among others, was Ariana Greenblatt, the film’s youngest star, who appears in the film as an angsty tween foil to Robbie’s sunny optimism. Here, Greenblatt takes NYLON behind the scenes as she gets ready for the pink carpet.

Describe your experience on the Barbie set in three words:

Pink, love, surreal

Describe your look for the red carpet:

I called myself "Midnight Barbie" after the dress designer's (Yogie Pramata) collection name “Minuit” which translates to “Midnight.”

What is your favorite memory from shooting Barbie?

Playing Wordle with Michael Cera in the morning while in hair and makeup. Or filming the car scenes with America [Ferrera] and Margot. We always were laughing about something!

Who were you most excited to see on the red carpet?

I think I was most excited to see Billie Eilish, she has been someone I love and have looked up to for a while.

With Alexandra Shipp and Dove Cameron

Describe your look for the after party:

My look for the after party is still adorable Carolina Herrera mini dress, inspired by the 1960s Barbie. The black and white swimsuit and big glasses was such an iconic look, so I took that Barbie and made it a little bit more me.

How did this red carpet compare from other ones you've done?

The amount of excitement and love on this carpet was insane. Seeing my friends, family, and cast members all together was so special. I took my disposable camera with me and took some of the best pictures ever. I can’t wait for them to develop.
