Five ’70s-Inspired Makeup Looks To Try This Spring

It’s about that sun-kissed glow

by Jenna Igneri

The ‘70s are back in a big way. From the catwalk to our favorite celebs, it’s undeniable that beauty trends from the Studio 54-era have a major influence on our choice of makeup this season.

When we think 1970s beauty, the first thing that comes to mind is likely BIG, tousled hair, accompanied by that signature allover-golden glow. However, that’s not the only ‘70s resurgence we’re seeing—pops of color on the eyes, from pastels to more vibrant shades and more ornate facial embellishments, are also making a comeback.

From the bronzed beauties that walked the catwalk at Alberta Ferretti and Altuzarra to the pops of cerulean blue we saw at Missoni and Nanette Lepore, many designers paid homage to the glamorous decade this season. And it’s translating well into everyday looks, too—just take a look at Gigi Hadid or Beyoncé, for example. These two iconic ladies know how to rock that sun-kissed glow, giving a nod to looks typical to what we would have seen on Bianca Jagger or Jerry Hall (leave it to Mick to know how to choose ‘em) back in the day.

We recreated five retro beauty looks, but with a modern twist. Click through the gallery below to get the how-to on these fresh styles for spring. Get ready to channel your inner Studio 54 babe and dance the night away.
