Simon Biles lets the world know how she won her gold medal, and it wasn’t by smiling
Today Is...
National Lost Sock Memorial Day
News of the Day:
+ On Monday night's Dancing with the Stars, athlete Simone Biles clapped back at judge Carrie Ann Inaba’s “Sometimes you dance like a metronome” critique. Bile’s response? “Smiling doesn’t win you gold medals." It was just the right amount of swift and subtle shade to send Twitter into a frenzy and make the world collectively gasp. In the best way possible.
+ Irish rapper Rejjie Snow brought the EU to the U.S. with the release of his hot new single “Purple Tuesday," featuring Brooklyn, New York, natives Joey Bada$$ and Jesse Boykins III. A smooth and easygoing flow vibe makes Snow’s latest track the perfect summertime jam.
+ It’s been a crazy week for these 45 celebs who were just hit with a “warning” from the Federal Trade Commission over their recent social media posts. Naomi Campbell and Jennifer Lopez were just two of the many stars the FTC targeted for advertising products on their social media without labeling them clearly as "#ad." More than 90 letters were sent to celebrities and brands regarding the blurred line between endorsing a product and being a fan. All posts in question have since been taken down.
+ Girlpool has done it again. Their newest single, "Powerplant,” contrasts powerfully soft vocals and melodies with stark visuals of small town everyday life, creating a dualistically beautiful masterpiece.
+ Too much cannabis may actually be a good thing. A recent study conducted by the University of Bonn and Hebrew University shows that one daily dose of THC can actually help keep the part of your brain that slows down over time active and alert. Cannabis for anti-aging? We're in.
