Adele Opens The Grammys With What Else, “Hello”

We missed this

When Adele’s “Hello” first came out in October of 2015, we wrote about it almost daily. Every performance, cover, and parody of the song got its own blog post. But like every single, even all-time classics like “Hello,” it disappeared into the ether. But tonight, well over a year after its release, Adele brought it back in a huge way, opening tonight’s 59th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony with a typically stunning rendition of the lead single.

Having already changed out of the olive green Givenchy Haute Couture dress she wore on the red carpet (and without that lemon pin), Adele took the stage completely alone, with nothing but a black-and-white image of herself projected in the background. This is the opposite of what the Grammys typically do, which is pair performers together amidst elaborate stage designs. But Adele isn’t just any performer. All she needs is that voice. This performance came almost a year to the day when sound problems thwarted her performance of “All I Ask.” But this time around, she was flawless. Watch it above.
